City Landmark, Low-Carbon Legacy: M&E Transformation in Progress

Client: Landsec

Jnoad Ltd is currently undertaking a major mechanical and electrical upgrade at One New Change, a landmark mixed-use development in the heart of the City of London. Spanning over 948,000 square feet of retail and office space, the building is undergoing a transformative decarbonisation programme commissioned by Landsec.

The works focus on replacing legacy gas-fired systems with high-efficiency, electrically powered alternatives. This includes the installation of air source heat pumps (ASHPs) to replace rooftop chillers and basement boilers, enabling simultaneous heating and cooling across the building. The existing Ground Source Energy System (GSES) will remain in operation as the lead source of thermal energy, while the new systems will enhance flexibility, resilience, and sustainability.

Jnoad Ltd is also delivering comprehensive electrical upgrades and a new Schneider Building Management System (BMS) to integrate and optimise the performance of all new plant. The project is being executed with precision and care to ensure minimal disruption to tenants and continuity of critical services.

Project Details & Design Wins

Modernising Infrastructure for a Greener Future

Decarbonisation of Heating & Cooling

Replacement of five rooftop chillers and basement gas-fired boilers with high-efficiency ASHPs, enabling low-carbon simultaneous heating and cooling.

New LTHW Pipework Integration for ASHPs

New low temperature hot water pipework has been installed to connect the newly introduced ASHPs, which now provide both heating and cooling. Previously, the rooftop chillers only served chilled water circuits. The new LTHW pipework spans the roof, descends via a dedicated riser, and links into the existing system headers within the boiler plant room, enabling full integration with the building’s heating infrastructure.

Smart Integration with Schneider BMS

The existing Building Management System is being expanded and reconfigured to incorporate all newly installed mechanical elements. This integration enables centralised monitoring, control, and optimisation of the upgraded systems, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting long-term energy performance.

Electrical Infrastructure Upgrade

New electrical services installed to support all replacement and additional plant, ensuring safe, scalable, and future-proof power distribution.
