As the appointed contractor, we successfully completed the full plant replacement works at One New Change, London EC4M. This complex project involved the removal and replacement of eight rooftop dry coolers and one chiller, all while navigating the logistical and acoustic challenges of a central London site. Our team coordinated two weekend cranage operations, managed road closures with the City of London, and ensured minimal disruption to pedestrian and commercial access. The new plant installation included eight Carrier dry coolers and a high-performance Trane chiller. Environmental and acoustic assessments were conducted pre- and post-installation to ensure compliance and performance.
Project Details & Design WinsWe executed two major cranage operations over consecutive weekends, requiring full closure of Bread Street and restricted access to the centre’s loading bay and pedestrian routes. This was meticulously planned in collaboration with City of London traffic engineers.
Noise levels from the existing plant were measured under peak load conditions. A 48-hour ambient survey was conducted, followed by post-installation assessments to ensure the new equipment met environmental standards.
Prior to removal, the existing Trane chiller was fully purged of refrigerants and oils, ensuring safe and compliant disposal. All waste materials were handled under our Waste Transfer Certificate.
The new cooling system featured eight Carrier dry coolers and a high efficiency Trane chiller, interfaced with the existing Trane sequencer and electrical supplies for seamless integration and optimized performance.
