Following a critical fault in the TX3 transformer, Jnoad Ltd led the intricate process of decommissioning and replacing the 2000kVA HV/LV unit atop the East Building at 80 Victoria Street. This high-stakes project demanded precision engineering, strict coordination across disciplines, and an unwavering commitment to maintaining operational continuity for adjacent systems.
Works included careful removal of legacy equipment, adaptation of rooftop infrastructure to accommodate cranage and access requirements, reconnection of HV and LV supplies, and final commissioning of a state-of-the-art cast resin transformer featuring enhanced thermal monitoring, surge protection, and low-loss design.
Project Details & Design WinsFull inspection and removal of rooftop louvres, switchgear segments, and trunking to enable transformer access without compromising surrounding systems.
Collaborated with Riglift (UK) Ltd to carry out precision lifting from Victoria Street, overcoming spatial constraints and securing necessary road closures.
New 2000/2800kVA cast resin transformer installed with ANAF cooling, surge arrestors, dual temperature alarms, and reconnection to existing HV/LV switchgear.
Jnoad organised and participated in comprehensive pre-installation factory tests including heat rise and dielectric flash tests to ensure specification compliance
